NOONER
Donald Randolph Nooner, 40, of Austin, departed into the arms of God on Friday, February 11, 2000 after a valiantly fought battle with colon cancer. Don's shortened journey on earth was a constant source of lessons and inspirations of courage and grace for all that were privileged to know and encounter him. Though constantly dealing with adversity, he redefined the meaning of strength and fortitude. Yet he retained an unfailing faith in God, and the grasping of Life's greatest meaning. Don is a hero among men and has changed forever the lives of countless that have known him.
Don was born on May 23, 1959 in Corpus Christi, to Evelyn and R.C. Nooner. He attended Corpus Christi public schools, and was a graduate of Richard King High School, where he was a trainer for the King Mustangs. Don was a Boy Scout, honored to be an Eagle Scout and was the recipient of the Vigil Honor. He attended The University of Texas, where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon, and graduated from Texas A&M at Corpus Christi with a BA in Business Administration.
His career started in the oil and gas business with Arco, which led to a position as the Deputy to the Energy Advisor of the State of Texas. He later joined the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission, and started his own beloved business, Randolph Outfitters, a haberdashery catering to hunters, fisherman, and sportsman. He loved the outdoors, was an avid hunter and angler, and a competitive skeet-shooter. He was an accomplished Bible Scholar and an active member of First Evangelical Free Church of Austin.
A calm, easy-going manner, a sincere smile, a warm heart of forgiveness, an amazingly positive attitude, solid and unwavering character, along with his handsome looks made Don a very easy man to love and like. He was always devoted to his family and his friendships were one of his greatest treasures. The memory and spirit of this extraordinary man will remain very much alive among us all forever. There are countless giving thanks that Don Nooner became a part of their lives.
Don's adult life was pummeled by illness and adversity that he never let define him. He survived Hodgkin's Disease, a cancer of the lymph system, twice. His spirit, courage, and unshakable, faith in God were a constant source of awe to those around him--not only to his loved ones, but to his medical professionals as well.
Preceded in death by his father, R.C. Nooner, Don is survived by his loving family; mother, Evelyn Habeeb Nooner of Corpus Christi, sister, Marianna Nooner of Dallas, sister and brother-in-law Susan Nooner Carter and Michael Carter; nephew and godson Drew Carter, all of Corpus Christi; brother Carleton Nooner of Dallas; and grandmother, Ruby Nooner of Hot Springs, Arkansas. Also survived by aunts and uncles, Mrs. Emil Habeeb, John Habeeb, Pat and William Habeeb, Ann and Al Richey, all of Corpus Christi, Nanci Habeeb Prettyman of Chula Vista, California, Sue Nooner Brooks of Hot Springs, Arkansas; and numerous cousins.

Especially, among the many, we thank Bill and Mary Kerr Winters, Houston; Greg and Joan Talley, Austin; Bart and Michelle Irby, Dallas; Celso and Cheryl Gonzalez-Falla, Houston; and the brothers of Sigma Alpha Epsilon.
